Pile - Stackable speaker
March 15, 2021
I often find myself looking for space on my desk no matter how big it is, I am the kind of person who is able to fill it up easily. Considering that living spaces are getting smaller, people are looking to maximise their own place smartly and efficiently. From an Instagram challenge, here is PILE a speaker concept which reflects on modularity and compactness, delivering high-performance sound while occupying as little space as possible.
Collection of inspirational images
PILE has a soft, curvy yet squared shape, and the materials choices aim for a comfortable and friendly appearance, yet minimal and modern.
These choices were determined by the fact that most speakers are used at home and therefore I wanted to create something that would perfectly match with the environment they are supposed to be in.
PILE THEM TOGETHER
Pile's main characteristic is the possibility to stuck every single unit on top of the other.
This modular design aims to minimise the space required by the speaker, while still offering the opportunity to increase the sound by adding on top a second one and so on.
The convex top of Pile enhances its modular design, helping with the placement of the next unit on top.
Simultaneously the concave detail over the top of Pile can be used as a space for placing small objects in the attempt to avoid cluttering the desk.
A selection of colours chosen for Pile.
The main body of the speaker is a matte plastic in a variety of different colours, while the center part a playful yet elegant textile matching the colour of the main body.
